Melt is a chatroom I made for MELT YOUR PHONE: A Sexting Workshop, which I organized at Hex House and which was led by Sophie Abramowitz. The workshop invites participants to explore sexting as a poetic form, an erotic practice, and a medium for inventing new ways of relating. Through writing exercises, evocative language, and collaborative experimentation, we consider the possibilities of digital intimacy and what sexting can look, sound, and feel like.

The in-class writing exercises happen in Melt, which I built specifically for real-time encounters with each other through language before identity. Participants join anonymously, with no accounts or names, and explore language, desire, and connection through anonymous exchange.

For Sophie, sexting has been a crucial medium for exploring both her own desires and those of her partners, no matter how unruly, unwieldy, or unrealistic they've been. Together, we move beyond the idea of sexting as a lesser substitute for physical connection and approach it as art and play, with all the radical potential those offer.
